The Decadent Deco Filofax

Ok so I have gone and done it now! Remember when I said that I would treat myself to a certain filofax when I finished my PhD? Or better yet when I finally became a public health consultant? Well friends, it is do as I say not as I do........ because week before last I just happened to mosey on down to the wonder that is eBay and get myself AN IVORY DECO FILOFAX!!!!!! Sorry for shouting but you must have known HOW LONG I HAVE BEEN CRAVING THIS!! Again. Sorry. I shall try to calm down. Deep breaths CP. Deep breaths! :-)

Anyways initially I had bid on a lovely Ruby Deco which as I mentioned here was my favourite colour. Would you believe that in the 5 minutes it took for me to leave office and get to the bus stop I was outbid! I was extremely annoyed. But then a certain enabler named Jotje came to the rescue and told me that another one was up for auction. Although it was the Ivory, I decided to go for it! Friends I even got up at 5 one morning to make sure that I won the damn thing. And I am so not a morning person. If that isn't dedication to a cause, I don't know what is!  So finally getting my Deco was the seventh reason I was smiling grinning like a Cheshire cat last week! As soon as I got it I showed it off to my office mates. Even haters had to oooh and ahhh over it. I was not surprised as absolutely, positively without exception this filofax is the MOST STUNNING PLANNER ON THE PLANET!!! Berluti who?? Point made.

So here are some photos. My camera and the lighting struggled to do it justice as it is really beautiful. It is also darker than I expected but somehow I think the Ivory represents understated class compared to the obvious bling of the Ruby. Not that I have a problem with bling. Just sayin'!

I also placed it on a purple velvet cushion for the pics. After all, my Deco is royalty, just like her owner!

Front view. The leather is sublime!

Close up of the clasp. It is utterly fabulous. And very easy to open.

Interior pocket!

Back pocket which can open to hold a lot of stuff.

A stylish posterior view!
So folks, I can finally say I am the proud owner of a Decadent Deco filofax. Maybe this will cure my obsession with filofaxes for good......... Although the vintage rose Malden has caught my eye! And the Philofaxy meet up is this Saturday at one of the flagship filofax stores...... Oh no! Here we go again!

What do you think?

PS I think I shall get this instead as my new consultant treat in 4 years time! Ssshhh. Don't tell DH. It will be our little secret ;-)

Wow it is very beautiful! I will have to satisfy myself with my Metropol til I have the funds to indulge in something that exquisite!

I really like this colour more than the others available in this style. Although I have to admit I'm not over keen on this particular style myself, too retro I suppose. But I can see why you like it.. and it will take some beating in terms of quality.

Thanks everyone I LOVE my DECO too. Somehow I forgot to mention to DH that I had bought it. Unfortunately since the last article he has been reading my blog so I was rumbled!!!! hahaha.
He asked me today on Skype whether or not I had a confession to make ;-)

Anyways he thought it looked too delicate to handle being a PhD planner and that I probably shouldn't use it daily. So a question to all deco owners...... How sturdy is it? It will just be carried around in my handbag.

Jotje it is your fault! But I am very very grateful :-)

Fabulous - so what is this one going to be used for? I am looking for some pointers as I have one too and I just haven't been able to bring myself to use it yet!

Hi,
You really have a nice blog. I'm glad I came across it in Lady Blogger Tea Party. I'm excited to read more of your post. :)

I am using it daily around the house (as you know my office is at home), and twice per week when I'm out and about it travels in my handbag. I also felt a bit reluctant and reserved an entire compartment in said handbag - just for the deco LOL Must say though: it looks all glossy and fragile, but this thing is a workhorse! I'm convinced the leather will easily outlive me. I'm still a bit unsure about that metal clutch though: it didn't get any scratches "yet", but I wish I could buy some protective sheets (like those Iphone thingies) to cover it ....

Heartfelt congrats and welcome to the ivory Deco club, CP! :o)

I'm a grad student and have shoved (true life of a student!) my personal ivory Deco in my handbag (personal Filo fits fine in an LV Speedy) or book bag for the past 2 years. The leather's absolutely fine - maybe a bit darker in some areas. Clasp has some scratches, but nothing terrible. I glued crystals around the clasp, so maybe the bling distracts from the scratches?

Please use your Deco! It's lovely and precious, but don't be fooled! It isn't fragile. :o)

Alison, I plan to sort it out when I return from Trinidad (something to look forward to as I will be sad to leave my family).
Thanks Synz and Jenn for dropping by. Hope you stay a while! ;-)
Jotje and Stephanie you have reassured me that my Deco should withstand anything I throw at it. It will be in a separate compartment in my bag but I dont want the beautiful clasp to get scratched. I also wish I could get a protective sheet for it!

hahahah we have so similar tastes... ive been drooling over the mulberries for ages now! a girl in my year has an oak bayswater, i'm so jealous. it would make an EXCELLENT consultant gift-to-self. although given mulberry's frequent dramatic price increases it would make much more sense to get it now.. (is it too soon after the deco for such enabling? :p)

show us action shots once it's in use! :)

ps. i meant action shots of the deco.. i want to see some guts!

Ooh a med student with a Mulberry? Man there is nothing for her to aspire too! Haha. Although I could forgo 3 Radley handbags for a Mulberry bag! Well I hope they don't increase the price too much or I will lose interest ;-) I will definitely post shots of the deco when I set it up. I hope your studies for finals are going well.

One more note on the clasp: the only part that might get scratched, is that movable protruding little knob. Since the Deco lays flat without further questions, that "knob" will touch the surface (desk, table etc) and might get "hurt". Didn't yet here, but to be sure I put a bit of transparent tape on it (yes, I'm that kind of a geek). The tape is hardly noticable and I feel so reassured now ... ;-)

caribbean princess said...

Oh Jotje now that you told me that I am wobbling about whether I can really use my Deco. I don't want it to get scratched! It is too beautiful. Does the transparent tape not spoil the way it looks even a tiny bit? I think that would bug me :-(
