Is black boring?

So I am not a fussy person when it comes to clothes. I like to keep things simple. However in winter I do prefer to wear dark colours and add a pop of colour with my accessories. This outfit is quite simple/some may say boring. But it is easy and comfortable to wear. What do you think? Please share in the comments.

 Outfit details
Dress (Asos)- available here
Shoes (M&S)- no longer available
Black Beret- bought in Bath Christmas market
Bag (Carbotti)- available here
Bag (Mulberry Bayswater)- available in black here
Enjoy your day!

oO First of all: This purple mulberry is just gorgeous!! You couldn´t have choose a better company for it, than this "Boring outfit"!! It´s standing out SO well! that´s really a great one.

and additionally:
"However in winter I do prefer to wear dark colours and add a pop of colour with my accessories."

That´s exactly what i´m doing. And what you should do if you´re feeling like this.
Without that much sunlight and all this rainy, cloudy weather, my hunger for colour is also very ... almost not existing :) just a little spark of colour is ok. and that´s what i really liked about your dress-hat-bag combination.

BUT maybe you should add another little emphasis. maybe one is too little.
How about a nice little necklace in the bag´s colour??

I don't think it is boring at all. I usually equate simple with classic!

Black is never boring! This is classic and very chic. You have all the pop of color you need via the bag. Love this look on you.

Thanks Nina. That is a great idea. I used to wear lots more accessories when I lived in the Caribbean. Now I find I get tangled in my scarf or coat or hair and I have broken many fashion necklaces which led me to stop wearing them :-( In summer I should try to get back to accessorising!

Pops of colour work well in winter. I don't know why I prefer greys and dark blues and black. But no colour at all is depressing. My red bag and purple bag really cheer me up!

Thanks Alyssa and Ro. I am glad you don't find it morbid!

Do add another spot of colour to the outfits above.

The bags are indeed lovely but perhaps hat in another colour? Add colour at the face. Black usually drains the colour from ebony coloured skin.xx

True Fashion. I could have used my brurgundy beanie to lift it although wouldnt match with my purple. Or maybe grey? I dont wear much accessories as they get tangled up in braids or scarf or coat. Maybe I need some nice scarves ;-)

HI CB - I am a great lover of black and navy. I also add a 'pop' of colour. Definately look at some scarves - in lots of different textures, lengths, widths and colours! I think you can have quite a small neutral wardrobe and make it look huge with accessories. I also like coloured gloves on cold days to match my other accessories. Even M&s do some great coloured leather ones at a great price.

I am loving the outfit posts you are doing at the moment you look fab please keep doing them a little fashion inspiration is always a welcome distraction to read about.

I love black in the winter months and I'm having a huge grey phase - cardigans, sweaters and ssssh a sneaky Marc by Marc Jacobs grey handbag which is devine.

I am loving the Bays and the red bag is also a lovely pop of colour. I think scarves are a good colour splash in winter especially when you sit in an office as cold as mine at the moment they really help keep you snug :0)

Alison I agree M&S really does some fab and affordable leather gloves. I have purple (of course), red, black and chocolate. However my hands have been freezing in the recent cold snap. Do you have any suggestions for stylish, warmer gloves in wool? I have some scarves but I always end up using the same black ones. I need to move out of my comfort zone! Or learn to tie them in different ways.

Thanks Loulou. I hope you feature your new gorgeous bag. Grey is my favourite neutral in winter. To think I did not own a single grey item of clothing for 24 years of my life!! Now I love it as it is less harsh than black. I need to use scarves more. They look so chic on other people :-)

I'm exactly the opposite, in winter I want bright colours to lift my mood :0

What a great dress! Lovely shape. You look fab. The bags add a very happy lift to your outfit too :) I agree you could wear a statement necklace with this outfit - but it's good without, too!
Happy Friday!! H xx
