In Lvoe with Louis Vuitton

OK so it has been  a while since I have done a handbag post. Now this does not mean that I have fallen out of love with luxury handbags (poor DH wishes I would go back to my previous filofax and Radley addiction....haha!). Nope... Not at all... This current addiction will continue unabated unless DH threatens me with divorce papers ;-)

I have been in love with the LV speedy 'shape' (did you notice the title.... clever eh?) for a while. I am a big fan of Audrey Hepburn and I remember how chic the Parisiennes looked carrying theirs. However I really dislike bags with too many logos. And DH would always comment that the canvas ones looked like washbags.  And that anyone who paid that much for canvas had more money than sense. Maybe he has a point. But as we approach 5 years of marriage I am becoming more practiced in ignoring what DH says (well at least when it comes to fashion). After selling all but one of my Radley bags as well as lots of other junk stuff together with a little bit of saving I was ready to make the leap into the land of Louis Vuitton. I decided to get a leather item as well to prove that LV does so much more than canvas.

Welcome my two new babies.

I will do a proper review of them at some point. But although Mulberry remains my favorite I finally understand why LV is the king of the luxury handbag market. These bags are classic and will never date. I can see myself carrying these bags for years and while pink may not be a classic colour every woman needs a hot pink handbag!

That's it for me now. What do you think of my new babies? Please share in the comments.

Have a lovely day!

Congrats on your new additions! They are timeless, classic, and beautiful. You will have them for the rest of your life, and they will look as wonderful on your arm when you are 90 as they do today.

The colour of Alma is really beautiful. I`ve had one LV for 4 years and it`s my baby. I use it every single day. You must explain to you DH that it`s better to buy one quality bag every few years than to buy many cheap ones every year :o)

Thanks Ro! I love the fact that they are such timeless bags and that women in the 30s were wearing the alma and speedy styles. Such excellent history :-) They are quite hardy bags too which is even better!

Thanks Katka. Which LV do you have? I saw a stunning mono alma today. It almost converted me but I know I would feel uncomfortable using a monogram bag in my workplace.

DH can see the logic of one good quality bag every few years. His issue is that I want to buy 5 a year!! Hahaha! It is only because I have been building a collection and it is very nearly complete ;-)

He is ok with the fact that I sold a lot of stuff to fund most of the purchases though.

I had my monogram speedy 30 for 10+ years. That bag wears like iron... Was in perfect shape still, when I sold a few months ago now. Looked better than new, with the lovely patina on the leather.

My mono speedy 30 was 10+ years old when I sold it a few months ago. That bag wears like iron, and even looked better than new with the lovely patina acquired on the leather.

I have LV Beaubourg. It's great bag for work. You can fit a lot inside. And now I'm saving for Eva clutch.

Ro they really are amazing! I like honey coloured patina on the mono bags. It looks gorgeous. I love my speedy so much I am planning on getting an azur version as I have no light coloured bags.

But best of all if I decide I wanted to move on to something else I would get a good price for it.

Win win :-)

I have sold a lot of stuff on eBay now! It feels good to recycle and get rid of my clutter.

Eva is lovely! Don't know the beauborg style so will check it out on my favourite bag forum!
which Eva? Ebene, azur, mono? I am slightly put off by the bigger plaques on the ebene and azur as I might get them scratched.

So sorry for the double post! Sometimes I am not clear when they go thru or not when I comment from my phone.

That's ok Ro. Better I get two comments from you than none! Hehe. :-)

I would definetely go for mono version. I like the small plate on mono with "hadnwritten" LV. The only downside is that I don`t fit my Filo Deco inside :o) Well...new bag = new filofax :o)

I have been trying to sell my Delightful for a while now as I decided I would prefer another Mulberry something a bit more I am a grown up, as my Alexa feels like a teenager lol

I love her though I could never sell Dora :)

But LV has to go!!!! Just dont want to put it on ebay? I am a bit nervous!!!

Could you maybe do a post about selling designer bags on ebay??? :D xxx

Thanks Imy! I will do a post this weekend. What is it you don't like about delightful? Is it the monogram print or the style? There is likely to be an LV out there for you.

Mulberry Bayswater next for you? Daria is lovely too but more casual.
